Totem Runner app good for
The game is almost awesome. It looks amazing, it plays exciting, it gets the job done. The only minus is a major one though - it makes you collect stars to continue playing. A lot of games do this - NEVER a good idea, nobody likes backtracking and mindless grinding. If you fix this in a future update, and maybe add some more levels inspite, it would be a total 5/5 perfec iOS runner. But in the way it is... too little levels with major backtracking issues.
But I recomend it, its fun and the art style is great. Its also quite strategic for a runner. Great job on everything, but the major lazyness - not putting more levels and adding backtracking? Come one... cheap as hell...
It is a really fantastic game. Beatiful graphics and sounds. Five stars!!!
This is a 2D platformer that has you try and make it from one end of the level to the other. You have basic controls to avoid enemies and obstacles but your character is always running sort of like temple run.
The premise of the game is that you are some kind of mystical man that is planting new life in a dark forest that has been overrun by evil. As your character runs, you hold down a button to plant the new life. As you run and plant life, 3 stars will fill up. The objective is to plant as much as possible to obtain 3 stars. Now when you run into an enemy or an obstacle, you press a button to transform into an animal to overcome that particular obstacle. For example to clear a gap you turn into an eagle and fly across or to kill an enemy you turn into rhino and plow through them. The concept is excellent and executed well, but the problem is that when you are these animals you can no longer seed the forest and the stars dont fill. You need those stars to unlock new stages, but in some levels its nearly impossible to plant enough to get 3 because you spend too much time as an animal! And as such youll find yourself repeating levels over and over to get 3 stars. Also some levels in general are far too difficult and require numerous retries from checkpoints because you die from something you cant even see coming. At times the game can be very fast paced and require lightning fast reaction time. At times the animal controls can be clunky and result in frustrating deaths. Also there isnt much in the way of a story or evolving objectives, just get from one side to the other and get 3 stars.
With that being said the visuals are absolutely brilliant, definitely unique. Overall its a decent play, not over priced at 99cents. Not everyone will like it, some will love it.
I love that Chillingo took a risk and tried to make something like this work. Unfortunately, it doesnt, the controls are awful. However, its totally free now with absolutely no IAP so give it a run, there really is a lot off effort put in at the art level.
The game itself is beautiful. Controls are a bit clunky but I see past that. It has a unique gameplay experiance. This game is totally worth your time.
What a great job you guys did on most of this game. The artwork & game play is MIND BLOWING :bong: and just makes you go "Wow".
Like the others said the controls are a bit hard to handle but what a great concept and execution. Its the 1st game of its kind that Ive ever played.
I would pay upwards of 9.99 for the iPad version alone but it was free! Blaze on, friends and enjoy the game. *puff*
Some bad moments
This game is wonderful. Its completely new and refreshing, and the controls, despite several complaints, are perfectly in order. If you are having accelerometer issues, the bird can be switched to touch controls. Other than that, have had absolutely no problems on my iPad 2
I havent yet played a game that comes near this one in its scenery and detail.
It was an overall amazing experience and one I think that could have been a bit more challenging thought. As with many others I did experience problems half the time with the eagle,(iPhone 4) but I worked around it and eventually it didnt bother me.
Not another endless running game. There is some real thought that went into the idea of this game. Its beautiful and soft for a woman but still tough and strong for a guy to play. U have to play it to know what I mean. And with it being free, I think the developers are short changing themselves. I love this game. And nice soundtrack too.

First Im running this on an iPhone 4.
Ive heard that the control issues may be exclusive to the 4 and are not present on the 4s and 5 or iPads.
I had originally given this game a 3 star rating, praising everything about it but the controls for the eagle. Well Im back after beating the game, unable to put it down, to say that this game deserves a 5 star rating. I finally got used to the controls, understanding that you have to be aware of how you are currently holding your device when transforming into eagle form. I found that this actually adds more depth and required technique and this brings this game almost to another level as far as typical Mobile games go.
Just go into it knowing that it starts out easy and gradually gets more and more difficult, it demands that you master it in order to complete your quest.
I still feel that some polishing(very little though) could be applied to the eagle mechanic, but not enough to keep me from giving this a 5 star rating.
The creativity, the mood, the mythology, the creature and level design; everything about this that takes it beyond the typical mindless running games makes it something special.
I eagerly await new levels and updates :)
Id probably give this 5 stars but the eagle controls are too difficult. The rest of the game is really fun and the graphics are great
